GRC Firefighter prompting to enter username and password

When you go to GRC SPM (Firefighter) to use elevated access using transaction “/N/VIRSA/VFAT” you may be prompted to enter the username and password. This happens after you click the “Log on” button and enter the Reason code and action.

Reason:

This issue occurs mainly in the systems where CUA is configured. SAP Note 992200 – Firefighter User Exit does speaks about the basic user exists, but nothing on the CUA enabled systems.

Solution:

The solution is available in the SAP Note 1528178.

The GRC RTA – VIRSANH should be installed on the CUA master and the Child systems. This will not prompt users to enter the username and password while using the Firefighter ID.

Workaround:

Update the password setting in transaction code SCUM from ‘Global’ to ‘Everywhere’. When this option is set to Everywhere the CUA does not have to regenerate the password and the SAP Easy Access button will allow the new Firefighter session to be opened.

Thanks – Suggsda for getting this solution and workaround.
