CTS+ – Enchaned Change and Transport System

CTS+ is a One Central Transport Tool (which is an enhanced version of CTS) which integrates the Change and Transport system of ABAP and non ABAP systems.

CTS is an interesting concept that allows the developers to create new developments and workbench customizations, but is limited to ABAP systems. However, this can be achieved using the import and export options in SAP Portal.

CTS+ integrates all these systems and supports all these workbenches as a unified single transport tool using which the administrator can perform all the imports using the same tool.

Read more about Enhanced CTS in this SAP SDN Article.

Further to the authorization objects related to CTS, i.e., S_CTS_ADMI, S_TRANSPRT, S_DATASET, the CTS+/Enhaced CTS require the below authorization objects to restrict the authorizations:

S_SYS_RWBO – Restricts authorization for generating requests.

S_CTS_SADM – Restricts authorization for importing the requests

You may also refer SAP Help documentation for more information on the Enhanced CTS.

Raghu, Since long time I am facing one issue in my project…whenever we are releasing security transport its taking hell lot of time (almost 4 to 5 hours) checked with BASIS team but they always give us an excuse saying that because of so many objects itsl taking time…. If I include only one role in transport then also it will take almost an hour..

Logically just for releasing the transport, if its take an hour..its too much

We have a single role funda in our project.

      Hi Manish,

      Thanks for your feedback.

Regarding the issue with transport, it is something abnormal. Can you check your kernel and latest tp/R3trans tools versions and update it to the latest. Also, is the RDDIMPDP job running in all the clients? How much time the job is taking to complete? If the job is not scheduled, ask your basis to look at it and schedule the same.

If the problem persists, enable the SQL trace and then try releasing the transport. This will help you to identify where exactly the issue is. Also, check if there is maximum wait time while the tp/R3trans connect to the database.

Also, check Note 358688 – Performance for request release-TLOCKPC, which might help you.

      All the best!
